Fans of Tyler Perry‘s work thought they would have to wait til 2011 to see the highly anticipated For Colored Girls Who Committed Suicide When The Rainbow Is Not Enough, but the film — starring Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington, Phylicia Rashad, and Janet Jackson — has now been moved from January 2011 release to November 5, which makes the film eligible for Oscar contention. Don’t be surprised if you see Janet Jackson get two nods this upcoming season! Possibly one for Best Orginal Song for “Nothing” from Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?, and we may be pushing it, but maybe one for Best Supporting Actress? We’re rooting for you girl! Get that Oscar!

Los Angeles police have arrested rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, for possession of a controlled substance late Wednesday, E! News confirms.
According to reports, the duo got into trouble during a traffic stop, when cops smelled marijuana wafting from the car windows.
Los Angeles sheriff’s deputy Mark Pope told The Associated Press that the arrest occurred in West Hollywood.
“Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” the department said. “A narcotics investigation ensued” that resulted in the arrests.
T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris, is currently on probation, which was to last three years. In 2008 he was jailed on charges of unlawfully possessing firearms as a convicted felon. He had been charged with giving a bodyguard with $12,000 to buy weapons.
The Grammy winner served nine months in jail and three in a halfway house, and was released in March with an 11 PM curfew. (Source)

Rap-Up.com has exclusively learned that Mimi’s upcoming holiday project will be called Merry Christmas II You. The II represents the follow-up to 1994′s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The new offering is scheduled for a November 2 release and will include original material as well as covers of holiday classics. Though the title is quite uninspired, hopefully the music will be great. I hope Mariah covers songs that she didn’t do last time around such as more holiday classics like Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas”, “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “The Christmas Song.” The album is set to be released on November 2nd and will feature production from Jermaine Dupri, Randy Jackson and Bryan Michael- Cox. Carey will also promote the album through a series of HSN commercials will be push the cd and a combined DVD package.

H&M’s celebrated guest designer collaborations have included everyone from Madonna to Roberto Cavali to Viktor & Rolf. Well now it looks like we may be in for a treat when H&M teams up with Lanvin Alber Elbaz. How awesome is that? The great part about H&M design collaborations is that we all admire some of these luxury labels from afar but can’t afford them, so to bring their head designer in to create pieces that carry the full style of Lanvin but at a fraction of the price is totally awesome! H&M has launched a viral campaign featuring stereotypical fashion designer types sitting at a table in black and white. The voice is that of Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz but is digitally altered to suit each characters gender. Check out one of them below.
B.O.B GOES “UNPLUGGED” FOR MTV WITH THICKE, FIONNA AND MONAE

B.O.B hooked up with MTV’s unplugged series and performed 5 of his songs with special guests in NYC. The rapper, whose debut cd has already spawned 3 Top 10 hits including the #1 single “Nothin’ On You”, brought out some special guests to help him out. The ever so smooth Robin Thicke took the place of Bruno Mars for “Nothin’ on You” and his falsetto was buttery smooth and ridiculously on point. Other guests include Melanie Fiona on “Airplanes” and Janelle Monae on “The Kids”. With unplugged B.O.B shows that he’s not a simple pop-rapper, he has lyrical depth and is a dynamic musician. After her jail-bound scandal earlier this month, Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab and is now trying to bring her career out as well. The 24 year old actress covers Vanity Fair’s October issue. Inside Lohan shares her plans to snatch back the success she feels she deserves. ” I want my career back,” says Lohan, ” I want the respect that I had when I was doing great movies. And if that takes not going out to a club at night, then so be it. It’s not fun anyway. So many people around me would say they cared for the wrong reasons.
I don’t care what anyone says. I know that I’m a damn good actress.”
A lot of people were pulling from me, taking from me and not giving. I had a lot of people that were there for me for, you know, the party”, she said. In the end Lindsay says “I don’t care what anyone says. I know that I’m a damn good actress.” Lohan has a point, she is a decent actress, she just hasn’t been able to catch a break whether its through her own fault or the fault of the media. Hopefully she finds her way back to the Freaky Friday, Mean Girls style Lindsay.

TELEVISION| BET’S MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: THE TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN IN HIP-HOP

Last night, BET aired its documentary My Mic Sounds Nice: The Truth About Women and Hip-Hop and it seemed like most of Twitter was into it and really sparked a discussion about the current state of female rappers in hip-hop. With commentary from the likes of Salt-n-Pepa, MC Lyte, Rah Digga, Eve, Roxanne Chante, Yo-Yo, Russel Simmons, Kevin Liles, and Missy Elliot among others, there was discussion with multiple views on how female hip-hop has gotten to where it is now. Not only was the documentary informative and entertaining, but visually speaking it was vivid and cool the way all the “talking heads” were shot. The most shocking for me was seeing how great Lauryn Hill was and how much she embodied the spirit of he perfect prototype female rapper. Hill was sexy yet smart, and her rhymes talked about real female problems without having to expose all her ass for the world to see. Its a shame that she hasn’t been able to channel that greatness in recent outings such as the Rock The Bells concert. Nonetheless, BET gets major props for this documentary from us!
