Now, that you think about it, Jay-Z is due for a greatest hits collection isn’t he? The Brooklyn-bred rapper has released 11 studio albums, and has had 15 top 20 singles and countless other classics. Titled The Hits Collection: Vol.1, the collection will hit stores on June 29th. No word yet on packaging and whether Jay will contribute any new tracks to the compilation or promote it since it is being released through Island Def Jam, his former record company which he reportedly payed $5 million to leave to create his own label with Live Nation, Roc Nation. However, if his recent greatest hits medley performance on SNL is any indication, Jay may be promoting this one! The label has already set up a promotional site which features a countdown.
