BASE MAGAZINE| Q+A WITH THE BEAUTIFUL VITA CHAMBERS

*PINNED TO THE TOP, NORMAL POSTS CONTINUE BELOW*

Base Magazine caught up with 17 year old Universal Motown/SRP Artist Vita Chambers while she was on tour to learn a little more about this burgeoning Pop/Rock star who was found by the same duo who discovered Rihanna, who is now an International Superstar. Want to know how Vita got signed? Where she shops? Her favorite dish at Cheffete (Think Bajan McDonalds)? Check out our interview with the Bajan beauty below!

1.How did Carl and Evan discover you? Take us through the process from demo to deal!

Well in February 2009 I launched my myspace page with 4 songs that i co-wrote and a week later I received a message from Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken saying that he wanted to come down to Barbados and meet. Soon after that I was signed to SRP and was recording in New York when every i had time off school. I recorded a few songs with which were pitched to Universal Motown and on my birthday in June i found out that Universal Motown wanted to sign me. What a dream!

2. There are great artists (ex.Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Etta James) who are interpreters of songs and then there are great artists who prefer to be more involved with the creative process (Mariah Carey, P!nk). Which do you think you fall under? How important is songwriting to you?

I love being involved in the creative process either as a writer or visionary when it comes to my shows, but I think I’m also an interpreter which is equally important in order to connect with my audience.

3. The E.P, The Get Go is in stores now! What’s the inspiration behind the title and (though all artists hate this question,) which song is your favorite and why?

FUNNNNNNN!!!!! lol its all about having a good time, being confident and not letting anything get in your way of what you want. Its hard to pick a favorite, they all represent a different side of me. Being a Gemini I have many sides to me, so my album is all over the place, hehe, and I love each song for a different reason.

*Editors Note: I told you artists hate this question! 90% of the time you’ll never get an answer LOL!

4. Are there any artists/producers that you’re dying to work with?

Lady Gaga hands down lol

5. There’s Rihanna, Shontelle, Hal Linton, Livvi Franc and now YOU! What is it like being a part of what some are calling “The Bajan Invasion?”

I Love it!!! Barbados has so much talent and I am sooo happy that the world is getting to experience it. I am proud to be apart of “The Bajan Invasion” lol coming at FULL FORCE!!!!!

6. You have an interesting Rocker-chic sense of style! What are some of your favorite stores/designers?

I love Top Shop, Urban Outfitters, H and M, Diesel and any cool, shnazzzyyy boutiques.

7. 10 years from now, what will the world be saying about Vita Chambers?

Hopefully “Wow what an AMAZING artist” lol

* Editors Notes: Since my family is from Barbados, I thought it would be fun to ask Vita a couple of random questions that some of our fellow Barbadians would find interesting/amusing**

1.Favorite menu Item at Cheffete

A Chicken and Potato Roti from Chefette.

2.Favorite Soca Song of All Time

3.Cou Cou or Pudding & Souse?
