Billboard Magazine’s recurring Mashup Monday feature features soul singer Janelle Monae doing a tribute to Michael Jackson. As everyone may know “Smile” was Michael Jackson’s favorite song. Written by Charlie Chaplain for the 1936 movie Modern Times, the song has become a classic with many singers from Stevie Wonder to Barbra Streisand to Diana Ross covering the song. Michael’s version of the song was released in 1995 on his retrospective HIStory:Past, Present and Future, Book 1. Janelle’s breathy and soulful version is accompanied by an electric guitar making the standard a more bluesy affair. I Like It! Check The Video BELOW!
