Congrats to Beyonce for making the top of the list for People magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman.” The new mom was quoted in People as saying, “I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth. I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this Earth.” This is only the second time a black woman has graced the cover with Halle Berry being the first. It’s interesting to see what society considers beautiful or not and that there’s even a ranking that publicizes it so people can judge for themselves. Earlier this week, we hinted that Beyonce would be forming her own social media site for her fans. And *drumroll* the day is finally here!! Today, Queen Bey revealed her new site Beyonce.com and looking at it now it’s definitely going to stir up a buzz amongst all of her fans. On the site, Beyonce describes her site as the “Beyhive…the official fan collective by the fans, for the fans, here for bey.” There’s a part of the site that also tells you what kind of Bee you are; you can choose a honeybee, bumblebee, or a digger bee. A nice touch to this site is that Bey actually shares intimate photos of her life on the official tumblr page as well as behind the scenes videos and performances(one of my favorite pics is one of Jay wrapping his arms around her). This is an interesting transition for Bey who’s kind of shied away from social media over the years and never really taken as full advantage of it as other artists have. The Beyhive has gone mad upon hearing their queen may be joining one of their favorite destinations! Someone realized that  Beyonce.Tumblr.com has been set up recently! Unfortunately,the blog is password protected at the moment ( and no, neither “Blue Ivy”, “King Bey” , “Fuck Keri Hilson” or “I Wrote This Song” unlocked the magical tumblr kingdom on our attempts), but it’ll be quite interesting to see if Beyoncé chooses to embrace social media with her next promotional endeavors after completely ignoring the medium during promotion for her last album, 4

Beyoncé is no stranger to tumblr however, she and husband Jay-Z used the platform to debut pictures of their beautiful new born daughter Blue Ivy a few months back!

While Ms. Knowles-Carter may be home nursing baby Blue, members of her team dispatched her BeyHive to perform missionary work in her name by taking up post in Times Square in  the early morning hours to watch…. the premiere of a new set of advertisements? In other news, Beyoncé will return to the stage in May with a series of concerts at a new resort in Atlantic City, her publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said on Monday. Bey will appear over the Memorial Day weekend – on May 25, 26 and 27 – to inaugurate a 5,000-seat hall at Revel Resorts, a casino scheduled to open in April. (NYT)

You may not know her face, you may not even know her voice (though you should if you’ve found yourself humming the “Superbass” hook more than any guy should) , but Ester Dean is the songwriting force behind some of the biggest hits of the last 5 years. Dean has written or co-written not one, not two, but three #1 singles for Rihanna (“Rude Boy”, “What’s My Name” ,” S&M”) as well as countless other hits for the likes of Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and  Beyoncé. Recently, The New Yorker Magazine did an amazing feature article that focused on Ester Dean and her collaborative relationship with Norweigian hit makers Stargate as well as Pop music and Top 40 radio in a Macro context.

We here at Base Magazine would like to congratulate Beyonce and Jay-Z on their first baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter. Blue (or Ivy as I like to refer to her as) was born Saturday at a “healthy 7 lbs,” according to both Beyonce and Jay and the two parents couldn’t be happier. According to some reports, the name Ivy came from the Roman Numeral for four (IV), which has significance to both parents. Jay decided to show his happiness in the song below called “Glory,” which talks about the experience of now becoming a parent. The song even sheds light on how B had a miscarriage at one point and features Ivy towards the end crying (the child was just born and is already featured on a song smh). With family and friends such as Gaga, Gwenyth Paltrow, Rihanna, and her Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly and Michelle, Ivy will certainly be growing up with plenty of love…and money and will probably be spoiled rotten. Beyonce is on her grind in promoting her upcoming “4 Live At Roseland” DVD, which is set to be released on November 21 exclusively through Walmart. She recently released two new music videos for the songs “End of Time” and “I Was Here,” which feature concert  and never-seen-before personal footage. One of the more personal scenes that most news sites are talking about is a scene in the “I Was Here” video where she shows her wedding dress. I personally like the the other scenes, though, where she’s with her nephew and other family members. The “Roseland” DVD is supposed to give fans an “up close and personal” look at B and features 26 live songs as well as behind the scenes footage. The deluxe version which has additional concert scenes, 20 page booklet, and video anthology will be released on November 25. People are always saying that they feel like they don’t know “who Beyonce really is” or that she has a bleak personality (NOT!) so hopefully fans can get a better picture of her through the DVD. Beyoncé debuted the video for her latest single “Party” via Vevo this week! Album version feature star André 3000 wasn’t available for the shoot so Beyoncé switched him out for someone from the hometeam, label mate J.Cole. Peep cameos from Kelly Rowland and Solange as well! A few days ago, we showed you Beyonce’s  “Love On Top” teaser and now the full video has been released. Check it out below and let us know what you think; be sure to put on your dancing shoes though!

I’m curious to know what the reasoning was behind cutting out the second  verse, but the video was obviously filmed with her pregnancy in mind and before she started to show too much. I think she looks gorgeous in this video and it shows what a simple, yet well choreographed video can accomplish. Even with using just one set, there were still wardrobe  and light changes as well a little behind the scenes-esque moment towards the end. More videos are sure to come soon so we’ll be on the look-out.
